The real truth is sustainable and alternative packaging is the way of the future for natural winemaking! Just look at producers like Scribe and Matthiason putting wine in cans! Glass is heavy! Heavy bottles = more gas needed to transport = higher price paid both financially and for the environment.ġ traditional wine glass contributes 675 grams of CO2 per liter! 1 boxed wine like the ever so fabulous Sandy Giovese (pictured above) contributes ONLY 70 grams of CO2 per Liter! It holds 4 bottles, stays good for 1 month after opening, and it tastes great! Glass is hard to recycle and often ends up in a landfill even when it should’ve been recycled. Traditional wine packaging is a big (if not the biggest) contributor to climate change by the wine industry!Īs a natural wine shop and bar we talk a lot about pesticides, additives, and all sorts of other things, but let’s talk about glass! They’re high-quality, organic wines that come sans glass. The options we carry are definitely not Franzia Sunset Blush. BUT we love alternatively packaged wine at Salt & Bubbles. We don’t blame you! There’s a lot of ick out there. You might be skeptical about wine that comes in boxes, cans, or bags.
